Luminous Intensity

Luminous intensity is define as the measure of the wavelength-weighted power emitted by a light source in a particular direction per unit solid angle, based on the luminosity function, a standardized model of the sensitivity of the human eye.

In the International System of Units luminous intensity is measured in candela (cd).

The candela […] is defined by taking the fixed numerical value of the luminous efficacy of monochromatic radiation of frequency 540 × 1012 Hz, Kcd, to be 683 when expressed in the unit lm W–1, which is equal to cd sr W–1, or cd sr kg–1 m–2 s3, where the kilogram, metre and second are defined in terms of hc and ΔνCs.

These online unit converters are designed to support fast and accurate conversion among several units of electric luminous intensity, from one system into another.
